Today in class we did the following:

□ 1. Vocabulary words 11 – 20

□ 2. RWN Pages 363, 370

□ 3. Homework: Vocabulary words 16 – 30 x 4, defs x 1, 5 sentences using two vocabulary words.

1.      triple (adj.): three times as much or as many

2.     triplet (n.): one of three babies born at the same time to the same mother

3.     relate (v.): to show or make a connection between things

4.     relative (n.): a person connected by blood or marriage

5.     meter (n.): a unit of length in the metric system, equal to 100 centimeters

6.     metric (n.): relating to the system of measurement that uses meters, liters, and grams

7.     compose (v.): to create or write something, like music or writing

8.     composition (n.): a piece of writing or music

9.     crumb (n.): a small piece of food, like bread

10.   crumble (v.): to break into small pieces

In order to assist students with the problem-solution essay, I have provided them with the following sentences. Students are supposed to explain the problem and solution in writing. Problem Taiwan once had a massive garbage problem. It’s former nickname was “Garbage Island” due to the amount of trash that would litter its streets. Identify cause From the 1950’s onward, Taiwan became a very wealthy country. As people became wealthier, the amount of trash they generated grew.
